I sought my answers from Lord Krishna Himself.
यस्त्विन्द्रियाणि मनसा नियम्यारभतेऽजुर्न।
कर्मेन्द्रियैः कर्मयोगमसक्तः स विशिष्यते।।
But,O Arjuna, one who engages in Karma-yoga with the organs of action, controlling the organs with the mind and becoming unattached- that one excels.
Bhagvad Gita Chapter 3 Verse 7
Isn't it amazing!
What words of wisdom and clarity of action in these lines!Ofcourse it is difficult to tread but atleast it is not disillusioning!
When God Himself has given the path of salvation and survival in this world, why to ponder the mind in trivia?
It was very soothing and releaving to go over these words of Lord Krishna again and again and to internalise their meaning.
I conveyed the same to my bereaved mother and it helped in gaining perspective even if for a part of the day to overcome the unnerving void in our life after Papa's Parinirvan.
I conveyed the same to my daughter while teaching her Grade 4 English to perform her respective duties by putting all the senses under mind and focus on task without attaching to result or outcome or gain or loss.
We are here only to perform our obligations and duties in the name of God with absolute surrender and selflessness. There is nothing to be achieved, there is nothing to be lost.Purpose of Life's journey is in finding the joy of following the right course of action with detachment.
It is not unattainable.I have experienced moments of Shunya or absolute peace when sometimes I am absorbed with full focus in some work and my mind, body and soul are in complete harmony in the process of enjoying that work in that moment without any thought of past or future or any other dimension whatsoever. Those moments are of absolute calm and peace even more supreme than feelings of joy and bliss.
